After studying objects in the sky, the students were given chart paper to construct some sort of chart of their choice to show their learning! I was very impressed with the charts that were created and shared with our class. These kids are making all kinds of connections.
Some of our presenters in action! They loved showing us the maps they made of the things they learned. You will see some focused more on the stars and moon and some went to the day and night. 🙂 All that matters is we are learning and improving our public speaking skills in the process!
We celebrated meeting our fundraiser goal with Silly Sock Day, Shoes Off, and Hat Day. Whew….what a day! The kids were so adorable. This really showed their crazy personalities!
We had so much fun at the Boosterthon Fun Run, even though it was raining! We walked, ran, skipped, and danced laps and had a blast! Thanks to all who came out and cheered us on and who supported us!
Our classmate, Karson, was asked to hold the flag during the National Anthem.
After talking about all of the safe and important things scientists do, we made a scientist and put up on our wall!
Some of our ideas were:
I am a scientist because….
– I can name potions.
– I am safe.
– I like to do experiments.
We have been working on a few Reading routines this week.
First, we practiced how to “turn and talk” to a friend to discuss the story we just read. Looks pretty good to me!
Next, we worked on how to choose our books. Ask your child about I PICK and the 5 finger rule!
I can already tell that I have some bookworms in my class! We LOVE our time to just kick back, take off our shoes, and put our nose in our favorite books! We cherish this time.
Creating graphs is fun! Can you guess what our human graph shows?
Jamming out at the Rock’n Town Fun Run kick off!!
What a great opportunity this is to learn important character skills while having fun and raising money for our school! Remember to log your child in on www.funrun.com so they can get their bracelet.
I want to thank my sweet boys and girls for a great week in 1st grade. Not only were they getting used to a new grade and routine, but so was their teacher!! I will say, we all learned alot and were exhausted by Friday, but all had smiles on our faces! To make you smile this long weekend, here is a pic of all our sweet classmates!
Welcome sweet friends! It is going to be a FANTASTIC year in first grade. I’m so excited!!!
Our district provided a standard supply list for every grade level, which leaves us to ask for a few supplies that did not make the list and we feel are necessary in our classrooms at Dove. Here is the First Grade Supplemental Supply List.
Please send these supplies by the first day of school. If you need assistance, please feel free to contact us!
